Thirty days before the Grand Opening of Evans Community School in Orlando, students gathered at an assembly at Evans High School to learn about the new community school and its on-campus “Hub.” Students at Evans can go to the “Hub” for help with virtually any need, including medical and dental care, mental health counseling, tutoring and food and clothing. The “Hub” also provides resources for the parents of Evans’ students. After the assembly, members of the community school’s Student Leadership Council joined community volunteers to distribute $10,000 worth of food donated by Save-A-Lot to members of the local community.
